The Last Aristocrat of Bohemia

The romantic look of Stránov Castle was acquired during the Neo-Renaissance reconstruction at the end of the 19th century. In 1917, the president of Škoda Automobile and senator of the parliament, Josef Šimonek, bought the castle and lived there with his family until the communist nationalization in 1950.

The castle was returned in the hands of the Šimonek family in 2003. The family had to reconstruct it and then it was opened to the public for the first time in its history in 2004, and partial reconstruction of the castle's interiors and exteriors is gradually taking place here. In 2013, a stylish castle cafe was also added.
