Under them, the castle was expanded and it was considered a magnificent centre of social life. In the 17th century, however, the castle was confiscated and fell into disrepair over time, accelerated by several fires caused by lightning strikes. This culminated in 1914 with the collapse of the Wartturm.

Views and eagles

Landskron Castle has an eventful history dating back to 878, when it was mentioned in a document as a donation to the Bavarian monastery of Altötting. In 1028, Count Ozzi became lord of the manor and over the years a castle was built on the site. In the 14th century, the property changed hands several times, including from the Counts of Ortenburg and the Habsburgs, until it came into the possession of the Khevenhüller family in the 16th century.

It was not until the 20th century that the castle was revitalised and today it is used for tourism. A special highlight is the eagle arena on Landskron, where public bird of prey shows are held during the summer months.
