Chyše
manor Chyše, Czech republic
A manor full of stories
An ancient noble residence, whose origins date back to the 12th century, is associated with extraordinary personalities such as the nobleman Burian of Gufštejn, the painter Petr Brandl, and the writer and playwright Karel Čapek.
The Chyše estate is located 35 kilometers from Karlovy Vary in the direction of Prague. The history of this residence dates back to 1158, and it has undergone all significant reconstructions throughout its history. Initially, it was a Gothic castle, later a Renaissance and Baroque chateau. Its last transformation occurred in the mid-19th century, when it was rebuilt in the style of English Gothic. Each of these reconstructions has left distinct marks on the Chyše chateau that are still evident today. The most precious of these is a ceiling oil painting from 1699 by the greatest master of Czech Baroque, Petr Brandl.
