Inhabited by the descendants of Franz Ferdinand
Artstetten is the perfect place for your next event. In the middle of the 13th century the name Artstetten is mentioned in documents for the first time. Very soon, the medieval fortress developed into a castle, which had various owners in quick succession until it was acquired by Emperor Franz I in 1823. In 1861, Archduke Carl Ludwig (brother of Emperor Franz Josef) began to generously redesign the interior and exterior of the house.
Since 1913 Artstetten Castle has presented itself as we know it today: as an architecturally charming complex flanked by seven characteristic towers. Today, the castle is inhabited all year round by the descendants of Franz Ferdinand. A part of the rooms is used as a museum, the private representation rooms on the 2nd floor can be rented for events.
